THE victim of a paedophile who was jailed for sexually abusing her when she was a child says the ordeal has ‘ruined her life’.

Anthony Sutcliffe, of Barnes Road, Widnes was convicted at Warrington Crown Court on June 21 of indecently assaulting the girl and one count of gross indecency.

The 44-year-old dad-of-two denied both offences which happened while he was babysitting the girl when she was eight in 1990.

He was jailed for three years.

Following the case, victim Mandie Parr, 34, has waived her legal right to anonymity to encourage other victims of sexual abuse to come forward.

The Runcorn mum-of-two didn’t tell anyone about the assault for 26 years because Sutcliffe had threatened her.

“On the night it happened he whispered into my ear after I screamed: ‘If you ever tell anyone I will come back and kill you.’ “It was eating away at me but I thought no-one is going to believe me.”

Suppressing her memory has left Mandie with severe epilepsy and she eventually confided in her partner who told the police.

The relief made her feel safe but she then had to endure two trials after the first one collapsed following a hung jury.

“Having to go through the court process twice has been a living hell and an emotional nightmare for nearly two years,” she said.

“It haunts me every day.

“I wanted to speak out now to help other victims.

“I know how hard it is. Maybe if they could talk to me it could help them.”
