FIREFIGHTERS were called to reports of three flooded homes and a kitchen fire in Widnes yesterday, Saturday.
Three houses on Ditchfield Road were affected by flooding and firefighters rushed to the scene at 7am.
They found six inches of floodwater inside the houses and this was causing electrical problems.
Firefighters isolated the power supply to make the homes safe and helped to drain the floodwater.
At around midday two fire engines rushed to a house on Ormond Close after reports of a kitchen fire.
Firefighters helped residents out of the house and then put on breathing apparatus to tackle the flames.
The fire was put out using a hose reel jet and a high pressure fan was then used to clear the building of smoke.
Fortunately no casualties were reported.
