PUPILS at Moore Primary School celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday with a homemade hat parade and prizes handed out by Her Majesty herself, in cardboard cut-out form.
The children made crowns for the event and head teacher, Eileen Smith, said: “They were spectacular.
“The pupils really were inspirational. We had the Queen at the front presenting the prizes of a bar of chocolate for the best hat in each class.”
The school held a day of celebrations and more than 100 birthday cakes turned up at the school as children took part in a competition to bake a cake for the Queen.
There was a street party in the playground and the party continued on Saturday, when the school teamed up with the Parish Council to hold a celebration with elderly residents in the village.
Mrs Smith said: “The children had a lovely time, they were really good sports.”
