A WHEELIE bin blaze spread to the kitchen of a house in Widnes.

Firefighters tackled the fire on Hale Road shortly before 6am on Sunday.

The wheelie bin caught fire at the back of the property.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire spread to the kitchen of the property which was full of smoke.”

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire and then used a large fan to clear the smoke.

Police were asked to attend the incident.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
