A TEENAGER has been charged with the murder of a Widnes dad.
The 15-year-old teenage boy has been charged with the murder of 43-year-old Lee Briggs.
The schoolboy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Halton Magistrates’ Court today and has been remanded in youth custody to appear at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday.
Three other people who were also arrested in connection with the investigation have subsequently been released on bail.
The victim was found with serious injuries near a children’s playground at St Marie’s Community Park on Ann Street West shortly before 5pm on Monday, May 16.
Police found him in a field near Tesco Extra off Lugsdale Road.
Mr Briggs was taken to Whiston Hospital where he died a short time later.
A post-mortem examination revealed he died from a single stab wound.
