TALENTED schoolgirl Beau Dermott blew audiences away during her performance in the Britain’s Got Talent semi-final this evening and has made it through to the final.

The 12-year-old from Widnes, who is a member of StagePro Academy in Warrington town centre, was the final contestant who took to the stage tonight, Wednesday, as judge Amanda Holden’s golden buzzer act, and received a standing ovation from all four judges.

She won the public vote to be crowned the winner of tonight's semi final and told Ant and Dec on stage she wanted to thank everyone for voting.

Mum Karen added: "It's overwhelming. There's been lots of support and we are made up and thrilled."

Speaking after Beau’s performance of the song If Someone Like You from the musical Jekyll and Hyde, Amanda said she was an ordinary girl with an extraordinary voice. She added: “I’m so proud of you, that’s a beautiful song. Your voice was even better than your original audition. I could not be more thrilled for you.

"I would love for you to win the entire series now."

Simon Cowell said: “Very simply, this is why we make the show for people like you. You’ve just got an incredible voice.

“I can guarantee in years to come we will say this is the moment we discovered a star, I can feel it.”

Fellow judge Alesha Dixon said Beau was ‘definitely a potential winner of this show’ while David Walliams added that ‘it was an absolutely perfect performance’.

Beau had previously won a standing ovation from all four judges and rapturous applause following her rendition of Defying Gravity but the Cronton singer now needs your votes to get through to Saturday’s final.

In an exclusive interview earlier this week, her dad Ian, 52, said: “She is just a normal little kid from Widnes with an incredible voice.

“It is without doubt a gift. You can’t hold this talent back.

“Once people hear her sing they want more. They are fascinated and say: ‘How the hell has a 12-year-old sung that?’”

The former Halton’s Got Talent winner has been overwhelmed with messages from fans as far afield as Japan, Australia and France and even Indina Menzel, the original star of Wicked, said Beau’s version of the signature song had produced ‘chills’.

Her family including parents Ian and Karen, 44, and brother Ben, 21, are all in London cheering her on and say the support she has received has been ‘unbelievable’.

Ian added: “Beau is going to give it her all. Anyone who votes for her will be greatly appreciated. She will not let you down.

“If she gets to the final that will be like winning it.”

Speaking before going live on stage in London this evening, Beau said: “When Amanda pressed the golden buzzer it was like I was in a dream. I would like to win BGT but there are a lot of amazing acts so I’ll give it my best short.

“I’m so excited, I’m going to go out on that stage and make Amanda proud.”

Look out for Beau in Saturday's final on ITV1.
