FIREFIGHTERS tackled three vehicle fires overnight in Widnes, with two believed to have been started deliberately.

Crews used to hose reel jets to tackle a blaze involving a car on Cameron Road, shortly before 1am today, Saturday.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue, said: "The fire is believed to have been started deliberately."

Firefighters also dealt with a transit van fire on Brunner Road shortly after 1am.

They used a hose reel jet put out the blaze which is believed to have been started inside the vehicle.

A third vehicle fire was tackled by firefighters around 2.20am after they were called to a car fire on Stewards Avenue.

Police were asked to attend as it is believed that this fire was also started deliberately.
