A WIDNES dad has been crowned the cook who truly does ‘boast the best roast’.

The World teamed up with Crawshaws to find Halton’s top amateur chef to celebrate the opening of their new butchers at Green Oaks shopping centre.

Readers were invited to send in pictures of their culinary creations to win a £100 fresh meat hamper.

Lathe turner Andy Redmond, 50, of Milton Avenue was nominated by his wife, Anne for being a perfectionist in the kitchen.

Mum-of-two Anne said: “I used to be a chef but I’m thrilled Andy has now taken over the culinary duties.

“He’ll be overwhelmed with the meat in this hamper.

“He really does put his heart and soul into cooking up delicious roast dinners.

“He takes a lot of pride in making his own Yorkshire puddings and cooks his roast potatoes to perfection.”

The couple have two sons aged seven and five and they all love family meals together.

Anne added: “Andy’s roast beef is always really tender and he just beams with pride when the whole meal comes together.

“In my eyes he definitely does boast the best roast.”
