A MAN has been arrested following the discovery of suspected illegal drugs in Runcorn.

Police executed a warrant at 7.25am today at a property on Cotton Lane, Halton Lodge.

Officers seized a quantity of what are believed to be illegal drugs.

A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply.

He is currently helping officers with their enquiries.

A cannabis factory was discovered yesterday on Whitchurch Way, Halton Lodge in Runcorn.

Police officers discovered between 300-400 fully grown plants.

The items have were seized and taken away for further forensic examination.

Police say both finds were as a result of vital intelligence passed on by members of the public.

Inspector Barry Brown said: “This once again reinforces the importance of intelligence being passed on by the local community.

“As a result, suspected illegal drugs have been taken off the streets.

“Information from the public is vital in the fight against drug related crime.

“This type of intelligence is important and helps us to build up a bigger picture of what is happening in an area and the best ways of dealing with any issues.

“Illegal drugs have no place in Runcorn – this sort of activity has a major impact on the local community and we will do everything we can to put a stop to it.”
