WIDNES business students have won a Dragon’s Den style challenge after competing against students from across the country.

Pupils from Ormiston Chadwick Academy (OCA) took part in the effectual enterprise game with Henley Business School and the University of Reading Entrepreneurship.

They were up against three other Ormiston Academies.

Students were challenged to create a marketing strategy for a new product and sell their idea to a panel of investors.

Kirsty Holland, head of ICT at OCA on Liverpool Road, said: “Our students developed the idea of a reservation app where users could search businesses and compare prices of products and then order and reserve the product at a shop.”

Every member of the team played an active role in the product design and development.

A Dragon’s Den style panel then put their product to the test.

Their imagination and determination impressed the lead dragon to support them in funding the development of their idea.

Students on the winning team included Dillon Barrow, Luke Blaze, Alex Cannon, Abbie Davies, Alexandra Falola, Chloe Foy, Jack Leah, Ryan Mackenzie, Jamie Matthews, Emily Moon, Zuzanna Niedzialek, Michael Rowlands, Joshua Swindells , Millie Thornton, Kristian Toth and Connor Kingsley.
