A WOMAN has been fined for selling counterfeit designer goods worth more than £10,000 from a hairdressers in Widnes.

Lynne Roberts-Tsimbilakis, of Derby Road, Widnes, has admitted selling fake designer gear with an estimated value of £11,336 from Luxor Tanning Salon on Derby Road.

Officers from Halton Trading Standards received intelligence about the goods and visited the salon on May 7, finding 69 counterfeit items.

They included Mulberry handbags, Chanel sunglasses, perfume and footwear, Louis Vuitton sunglasses, Nike trainers, MAC makeup and Ralph Lauren and North Face clothing.

On Wednesday April 27, Warrington Magistrates Court heard that the sunglasses, cosmetics and perfume ‘could have posed a danger to public health’.

Roberts-Tsimbilakis was described as being ‘mortified’ as she admitted six counts of possessing foods with a false trademark for sale and one count of selling goods likely to be mistaken for a registered trademark.

The 56-year-old said that she had purchased the items from a car boot sale in Warrington and from premises on Bury New Road in Cheetham Hill and thought she was allowed to sell them.

Magistrates fined her a total of £1,157 for the offence.
