CAMPAIGNERS plan to mount a tolls protest on the Silver Jubilee bridge today.
UKIP deputy leader Paul Nuttall will be among those taking part.
A UKIP spokesman said: “The party is totally opposed to the principle of tolls and the demonstration is part of a campaign fighting tolls on motorists.”
Tolls will be introduced on the Silver Jubilee bridge when the new Mersey Gateway opens next year.
Members of the Runcorn UKIP branch plan to stage the protest this morning from 7.30am to 10am on the Widnes side of the crossing.
Halton Council is offering residents free tolls as part of a discount scheme.
The government has stipulated that the new bridge could not have been built unless tolls were imposed to help finance it.
