A JOBS fair organised by Runcorn MP Graham Evans promises to be the biggest and best yet.

Around 40 companies and organisations will be taking part in the fifth annual free event on February 18 from 10am to 3pm at Mid Cheshire College.

Hundreds attended last year and many more are expected to take up the increased number of opportunities on offer this time.

Graham said: “This is one of the highlights of my year.

“I’m absolutely passionate about getting people into work – whether they are looking to re-enter the workplace or are trying to get their first foot on the jobs ladder.

“Bringing employers and people together in one room helps get more people into jobs, training and apprenticeship schemes, which means more people with the security of a pay packet and the ability to plan for the future.”

Employers taking part include international engineering company Siemens, manufacturer Fine Décor, Peel Holdings, Halton Council and University College Chester.

There will be various workshops on CV skills writing, interview skills plus lectures on apprenticeships.

Professional development coach Beverly Grant will be leading a workshop entitled Get That Job – How To Succeed In Interviews”.

Last year’s fair saw a man land a dream role with the British Army as well as many young people embarking on new careers as apprentices.

“Apprenticeships play a vital role in our workforce,” added Graham. “Many of the companies attending run excellent apprenticeship schemes and when you speak to apprentices you understand just how rewarding that experience is.”

IBM apprentice Dominic Day finds his training very rewarding and inspirational.

He said: “The benefits are endless and include being paid to learn and having real responsibilities from day one.

“It allows me to develop rapidly as a professional in the work place from a young age.”
