POLICE today appealed for witnesses following a serious assault in Widnes town centre on Christmas day.
A 36-year-old woman from Widnes was left with serious facial injuries as a result of the early morning attack.
The incident occurred following an altercation involving three woman and two men.
It is believed to have occurred between 5am and 5.30am on Friday, December 25, last year on Cross Street.
Investigating Officer DC Gary Ford said: “We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry and as part of the investigation I am keen to speak to anyone that was in the area where the incident occurred."
Two men, aged 26 and 29, have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. They have been released on police bail until February 26, 2016.
Anyone with information which could assist the investigation is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 179 of 25/15/2015.
