A SPECIAL snowdrop planting event at Norton Priory raised £500 for a children’s bereavement charity.

More than 100 families planted snowdrops in memory of loved ones on Sunday.

The annual event organised by Child Bereavement UK is held to remember babies and children who have died and the children who are bereaved each year.

Snowdrops were available to buy and plant and relatives were invited to write messages in a book of remembrance donated by a bereaved family.

There were also some fun-filled events.

Children helped Hetty the elephant find her missing picnic hidden in the Walled Garden and received a goody bag at the end of the hunt.

Fundraising and communications officer Jonathan Evans said: “It was lovely to see so many families planting snowdrops and enjoying the treasure hunt in the Walled Garden.

“The weather was beautiful all day and the event had a really lovely atmosphere.

“We must also say a special thank you to all our wonderful volunteers for their continued support.”

Child Bereavement UK has a centre on the High Street in Runcorn and supports young people and families when they face bereavement.
