SERVICES in Halton for people with vision or hearing loss are being reviewed.

Significant levels of sight loss in older people are preventable or treatable and early intervention can help to prevent or delay the consequences.

Halton Council wants to make sure that anyone already living with a sensory loss can access information and support to manage their health and wellbeing and maintain their independence for as long as possible.

Regionally £1.2 million a year is spent by local authorities on supporting people living with vision or hearing loss.

Halton is working with Liverpool, Sefton, Knowsley and Wirral councils to review these services and ensure they can meet increasing demand, as the population is ageing.

The councils are talking to various groups about future services.

A questionnaire has been compiled to find out what people believe has helped them the most and what could be done differently to overcome daily challenges to independence arising from sight or hearing loss.

Halton residents with vision or hearing loss can express their views in this online survey https://webapp.halton.gov.uk/Survey_Snap/lcrsensory.htm The survey is open until February 12.
