A RUNCORN manufacturer has won silver at this year’s prestigious EEF/Aldermore Future Manufacturing Awards.

Sigmatex (UK), an independent converter of carbon fibre, was runner-up for the smart product award, sponsored by Siemens.

It was awarded silver in recognition of its achievements in successfully designing and delivering a new product to market that has driven innovation in manufacturing and offered a competitive edge.

The company, which employs 145 staff in Manor Park Road, was selected by a panel of judges drawn from business leaders, industry experts and academics.

It faced stiff competition from a range of impressive businesses, small and large, from across the region. Scott Tolson, chief executive officer of Sigmatex (UK), said: “This achievement is down to our team’s hard work and dedication. We are delighted to have been recognised.

“Not only does it demonstrate the valuable contribution made by local manufacturers like ourselves, but it also puts us on the map as a modern and innovative company.

“This is great news for us to share with all our staff, customers and suppliers.”

Simon Keogh, business manager at Siemens, said: “Manufacturers who design and successfully deliver new products to market are testament to the sector’s innovation and ingenuity.

“This award is justly deserved and Sigmatex (UK) should be applauded for their efforts.”
