A WOMAN suffered minor burns after a freak blaze at her home in Runcorn.
She was cleaning the hearth with a compressed air can when the pilot light of her gas fire suddenly caught fire.
Crews from Runcorn and Widnes tackled the blaze at the semi-detached house in Norleane Crescent shortly after 2.30pm yesterday.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The compressed air made contact with the pilot light of the fire and caused a whoosh.
“It caught the sofa and there was a significant fire.
“It was accidental. We have not had this type of fire before.”
The woman was treated by paramedics for shock and minor burns to her arm.
