THE funeral of a much-loved Widnes mum killed in a tragic road crash will be held next week.

Cathie Stankevitch died after being knocked over by an out of control van whilst walking her dog.

The accident happened on Sunday, September 27, at 3.15pm near the Four Topped Oak pub in Hough Green Road.

Police say a silver Citreon Berlingo driven by a 44-year-old man was in collision with two pedestrians, a woman and a man.

Mrs Stankevitch’s son, former Widnes rugby player and coach, John announced his mum’s funeral details on Twitter this afternoon.

It will be held on Thursday, October 15 at 1.30pm at St Basil’s Church in Hough Green Road, followed by a cremation service at 2.30pm.

John tweeted: ‘Thinking deep about how we can create a legacy in mum’s name for the things that she cared about most in the world. Her family.

‘I’ve felt pain before but nothing compares to this.

‘Those who’ve sent condolences, they are of comfort. I really appreciate your thoughts.’
