A WOMAN who had major surgery at Halton Hospital says that the staff were a credit to the NHS.

Karen Lawton had a total hip replacement at the Cheshire and Merseyside Treatment Centre (CMTC).

She said that everyone who looked after her went out of their way to dispel her fears.

Karen, aged 56, said: “From the moment I was admitted I was immediately put at ease by the friendliness of all the staff.

“I was obviously terrified but they were brilliant.

“Every stage was explained to me in full and any questions I had were answered in plain English.”

Karen, from Orford, Warrington, even had praise for the catering team.

She added: “The food was beautiful.

“I had a lovely steak pie with chips, peas and gravy followed by a fluffy lemon sponge and custard.

“The whole experience was wonderful even though I’d had a major operation.

“Well done to all at CMTC, you really are more than a credit to our NHS.

“I only wish all our hospitals were run in such a way.

“From my surgeon Mr R Sanger to the cleaning staff, it was a privilege to have been taken care of by you all.”
