TEACHERS at a Widnes school dressed up in costumes from various countries to celebrate European day of languages.
Pupils and staff at Wade Deacon High School staged three different events on Friday and raised £350 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Every lesson had an international theme and a special French breakfast was served.
Student leaders baked their own cakes and sold them to raise funds.
To celebrate Roald Dahl Day, teachers were challenge to drink a heinous cocktail based on George’s marvellous medicine.
The gruesome ingredients included putrid pilchards, rancid rice pudding, crippling chillies, mouldy milk and minging Marmite.
Year 11 student Millie Black who organised the event said: “To raise £350 in just one day was a great effort from everyone.
“It showed how generous people are and how much they want to help those who may be poorly.”
