A MAN has been arrested over the alleged robbery of an 86-year-old man in Widnes town centre.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said today: “A 47-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of robbery and has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.”

Officers are still investigating the robbery which happened on Thursday, July 2 between 1.30pm and 1.45pm outside a bus stop on Deacon Road.

Police say the victim was assaulted by a man and a woman as he waited for a bus.

The victim later discovered that a number of his bank cards had been stolen.
