BIG-HEARTED Widnes sisters have teamed up to treat a community care worker to a holiday of a lifetime.

Mum-of-two Janet Hegarty, aged 52, from Halton was recently diagnosed with lung cancer.

Kathryn and Sarah Weir are organising a charity night at Mill Brow Social Club at 7.30pm on Saturday, August 29.

They hope to raise enough money for Janet to travel abroad for a holiday with her 13-year-old son, Sean.

Kathryn, aged 30, of Houghton Close, said: “Janet is a lovely lady, kind and generous.

“She walks the streets of Widnes from 6am to 10pm helping others to live a secure and happy life.

“I had brain surgery and know what she is going through.

“We want to do something to show how much we care for her.”

Businesses have donated lots of raffle prizes.

Kathryn added: “We have had loads of support from shops.

Almost £500 has already been raised.
