A CANCER charity is looking to recruit some new volunteer therapists to help patients after their treatment.

The Widnes and Runcorn Cancer Support Group provide complementary therapies including Reiki, counselling and hypnotherapy but hope to also offer aromatherapy, massage and reflexology.

Anyone who is interested in volunteering as a therapist at the centre must be qualified to an appropriate level and able to commit to offering some treatment appointments each week.

Karen Peters, operations co-ordinator, said: “Our complementary therapies are a large part of what the centre offers to members, when you are undergoing treatment for cancer or caring for someone close to you that is it’s vital to be able to have a little me time, time to really relax and de-stress.

"For many of our members taking the time out for a treatment is the only opportunity they have.

"Currently students from Riverside college do an amazing job, providing manicures, pedicures and facials on a Friday during term time but the centre would like to be able to offer a larger range of beauty treatments with appointments outside of term time and on other days of the week."

If you can help, visit the support group on Alforde Street, Widnes from Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm, call the centre on 0151 423 5730, or email Karen.Peters@widnesandruncorncancersupport.org.uk.
