POLICE today renewed their appeal for information following a robbery in Widnes.

Three men burst into the Co-op at the junction of Liverpool Road and Hale Road, Widnes and demanded cash and cigarettes.

They broke in through the back door at around 10pm on Monday, July 27 and intimidated staff.

They stole a large quantity of cigarettes which were in a distinctive blue plastic box with a grey lid.

Police say the box would have been very heavy due to the amount of tobacco taken and is still missing.

One of the offenders was believed to be wearing a black North Face jacket.

Detectives today released a photograph of a jacket similar to the one that was worn.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the men leaving the scene.
