CHILDREN bid farewell to a much loved Runcorn head teacher.

Celia Dickinson retired from Cavendish High School Academy as principal after 30 years.

Children, staff, parents, governors and former pupils joined together for a special celebration.

An afternoon tea was held to pay tribute to her commitment and dedication.

Speeches were made as she was presented with a collection of gifts, cards and flowers.

Sixth form teacher Donna Tofts said: “Celia’s leaving is a landmark on the school as she has had an incredible impact on the students.

“She has worked at Cavendish for over 30 years and been head teacher for 20.”

The school in Lincoln Close converted to academy status last year.

It has been hailed an outstanding school for young people with special needs aged 11-19 years.

Students have severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties and moderate learning difficulties with emotional vulnerability.

Celia said:”We see all our young people as individual learners, their uniqueness being the essence of their true self, special in their own way.

“We believe in ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn and be successful through an innovative, exciting curriculum and excellent resources.”

She thanked everyone for their presents and kind wishes.
