A 60-YEAR-OLD man was struck in the face with a wooden bat in a terrifying attack in his bedroom.

Three burglars sneaked into a property in Hallwood Park Avenue, Runcorn through an insecure back door and demanded money from residents.

Following an altercation, they hit one victim in the face.

He suffered fractured facial bones in the attack.

The incident happened at around 10.40pm on Thursday, July 23.

Residents were woken when their pet dogs began barking in the hallway.

The intruders left through a back door.

The victim discovered that their car keys and house keys had been stolen.

Police today appealed for information.

PC Nathanial Walkowiak from Runcorn Policing Unit said: “This was a serious incident where the victim has been attacked in his own home.

“It was a violent unprovoked attack, leaving the victim with serious facial injuries.

“I want to reassure the community that these types of incidents are rare and would urge anyone with information that could identify the offenders to contact us.”

The first offender was a white man approximately 5ft 11ins tall, of medium build, aged in his early to mid 20s.

He had short dark hair with a messy fringe and was clean shaven.

He was wearing a plain black fleece/tracksuit and a black and white bandana or scarf, which was covering the lower part of his face.

The second offender was a white man approximately 5ft 3ins tall, of slim build, aged 17 or 18 years old.

He has short blonde hair with a messy fringe and is clean shaven. He was wearing a bandana covering the lower part of his face and dark coloured tracksuit jacket.

The third offender was a white man approximately, 5ft ins tall, of slim build, aged 17 or 18 years old.

He had short blond hair which was messy and had a fringe.

He was wearing a bandana covering the lower part of his face.
