FIREFIGHTERS tackled a fire at a Widnes chip shop last night.
Overheated oil filled the premises in Milton Avenue with smoke at around 7.30pm.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The crew fully inspected the frying range using a thermal imaging camera to ensure the temperature had dropped before leaving.”
A large fan was used to ventilate the premises and the oil was drained and allowed to cool.
The gas and electrics were also isolated.
