A TRAINEE hairdresser had to pull out of an audition for the hit BBC show The Voice after she was punched in the face in a brutal attack.

Runcorn mum-of-two Amy Davies had her heart set on performing in front of superstars Tom Jones and Will I Am.

She had been out in St Helens with friends celebrating landing the audition and passing her exams.

They went to McTucky's Hut on Westfield Street when a man came in and punched her "full force" in the face.

The attack happened at around 2am on Sunday, July 5.

Amy, who has a two-year-old daughter and 15-week-old baby son said:

“We went to a kebab house. I was sitting down.

"A man came in and he was being argumentative, we bickered and then he went out.

"I was just sitting looking at my phone and he came back in and punched me with full force. It was horrible.”

Amy, who studies at St Helens College, was taken to Whiston Hospital.

She added: "My lip is still swollen and I'm gutted because I was due to audition in Manchester for The Voice.

“I couldn’t kiss my kids goodnight. I couldn’t smile and can’t open my mouth

"I'm not going to let this beat me. I've always wanted to sing and will try again next year.”

She was going to sing How Will I Know by Whitney Houston, Use Somebody by Kimberley-Ann and Diamonds by Rihanna.

Amy, who is too scared to have her picture taken, added: “The frightening thing about this attack is that it wasn’t a spur of the moment thing.

“He thought about it and came back. It was a full blown punch with his arms swung right back.

"I hope the police find him so he can't do this again."

Merseyside Police confirmed they were investigating the assault.

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service said:”An ambulance was sent to McTucky’s in Westfield Street at 2.30am. A female patient was taken to Whiston Hospital.

Anyone who witnessed the assault can call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
