FORMER Everton footballer Graham Stuart surprised children by making a guest appearance.
He presented medals and trophies to players competing for the first ever Runcorn Schools Cup.
Eight teams competed in the final at Moore Primary School.
St Berteline’s won 3-0 against Gorsewood.
Paul Foster, PE co-ordinator at Castle View Primary School, said: “The
children absolutely loved it.
“The aim is to get more schools playing regular football matches.
“Everyone really appreciated all the effort we had made.
“We had qualified referees, medals and trophies for all the finalists. “Graham Stewart presenting the prizes was the icing on the cake.
“We would like to thank Everton for making this possible.”
It is hoped that many more schools will take part in next year’s competition.
