A FAMILY fun day is being held at Halton Hospital from 11am to 3pm on Sunday, July 5.

It is a chance for residents to have a look behind the scenes.

Chris Horner, from the communications team at Warrington and Halton Hospitals, said: “We’re really pleased to bring our open day and we’re hoping for a great turnout.

“Our tours behind the scenes give people a chance to see parts of the hospital that they don’t usually see and it’s a chance to find out more about us and what we’re doing at the hospitals.

“We’ve opened the urgent care centre and new endoscopy unit so there’s been lots going on at the hospital to show you.

“We’ve got loads happening through the day and it’s a perfect event for the whole family to drop in to.

“We know how much pride there is in the hospital amongst people and the site is busier than ever so we’re delighted to give people the chance to come and find out more about us.”

The event is based at the Cheshire and Merseyside Treatment Centre, the hospital’s orthopaedic surgery centre.

Tours will run to the new urgent care centre and other departments.

Visitors can see inside operating theatres, the hospital’s new £500,000 endoscopy unit.

There will also be stalls offering health advice and information, talks from nurses and doctors and demonstrations from the emergency services.

You can even take a walk through a 24 foot long inflatable colon on the day with the endoscopy team from the hospital.

There will be plenty for families to do during the day with face painting, a bouncy castle, music and performances.

Community groups and other health partners will also be on hand and running stalls and there’s even career advice for people considering a career in the NHS.

Parking is free for the day on the site.
