THE chairman of Catalyst Science Discovery Centre in Widnes has been honoured with a lifetime achievement.

Bryan Davies received the award for services to the chemical industry at the Chemical Industries Association (CIA) awards dinner in Newcastle.

He began his career with Shell-Mex and BP Ltd before moving to Sterling Organics.

Since then he has worked for Graesser Laboratories, RTZ Chemicals and Thomas Swan.

Meryl Jameson, marketing manager at Catalyst said “This is a prestigious award that is only ever given once a year, and only if the CIA board consider there to be a worthy recipient.

“The staff and trustees at Catalyst would like to congratulate Bryan on this award.

“He is a very worthy winner and should be extremely proud of this outstanding achievement.”

Bryan has also represented the UK chemical industry on CIA trade missions across the world.

In his spare time, he is honorary treasurer of Cheshire Rugby Football Union.

He is a qualified coach, referee and assessor and is on the organising committee for this year’s Rugby World Cup.
