WAVING colourful banners and posters they made themselves, pupils warned of the dangers of parking outside schools.

Children from Spinney Avenue CE Primary School joined forces with parents, Cheshire Police, residents, teachers and council officers to highlight their message - show you care, park elsewhere.

The ‘Don’t Park Here’ campaign is trying to stop parents parking on pavements, causing obstructions and putting lives at risk.

Halton Cllr Marie Wright, board member for health and wellbeing, said: “Whether you’re running late, desperate to get to work, concerned about the weather or just in a hurry, think about the dangers of your actions.

“The zig-zag lines are designed to give children a clear view when crossing the road.”

Police will be stepping up patrols to try and discourage parents from parking outside schools.

Ditton Cllr Shaun Osborne added: “We are hoping the campaign will strike a chord with parents and that they will think carefully about where they park when dropping off their children at school.”
