A TAXI driver rescued by firefighters yesterday from a burning car has died.
The 60-year-old man received treatment at the scene and was taken to Whiston Hopsital where he sadly died.
At this stage, police believe that he had fallen ill at the wheel of the vehicle.
The incident happened at around 7.50am on Wednesday, May 27 on the exit slip road to Boston Avenue on the central expressway of the A533 in Runcorn.
Police say the taxi left the road and collided with a sign.
A man, who was a passenger in the car, sustained minor injuries.
The slip road was closed along with the central expressway towards Bridgewater for about two hours before it re-opened.
An air ambulance also attended the incident.
