POLICE are urging any residents experiencing intimidation in Halton to contact them, following a shooting incident in Ditton.

Teenage gun fanatic Ryan Duggan, aged 19, of Wavell Avenue, Widnes, was convicted at Chester Crown Court last week of attempting to murder 25-year-old Daniel Kennedy.

The incident followed weeks of intimidation at private flats in St Michael’s View.

Residents say gangs of youths had been congregating in the communal hallway, smoking cannabis and causing a nuisance.

Inspector Mike Evans, from Widnes Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: “We will not tolerate the behaviour of anyone who believes they can inject fear, violence and intimidation into the heart of the community.

“This particular area had suffered from issues with bad behaviour and criminal damage and police and partners have worked tirelessly alongside each other and the community to address any issues and to help improve the quality of life for people.”

He said no-one should live in fear and reassured residents that action will be taken against any intimidating behaviour.

He added: “It was clear that many people living in the area were too scared to come forward and report any issues or fear of reprisals.

“No-one should have to live in fear and misery as a result of the actions of others.”

Anyone who has any concerns regarding this type of crime in the Halton area is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
