A CHARITY golf day has been hailed a huge success.
Player John Culshaw pledged to raise £3,000 in memory of his brother, David, who died from an extremely rare type of cancer last year.
Supporters helped him to more than double this as £6,515 was collected for Ewing’s Sarcoma Research.
More than 120 players took part in the event at Runcorn golf club.
Engineer John, aged 66, from Norton, said: “Everybody who contributed should be proud and pat themselves on the back.
“My brother, David would be overjoyed that so many people that didn’t know him have given in support of research.”
This aggressive form of cancer normally affects children.
The number of adults who contract the disease is one in 10 million.
John would like to thank Runcorn golf club for giving the free use of the course and the clubhouse for the charity event.
John’s family provided cakes, scones, tea and beer at a halfway hut beside the 10th tee.
