MORE than 40 Halton residents took part in a fun event and raised more than £180 for charity.

They joined the Stroke Association’s step out for stroke walk around Victoria Park in Widnes on Saturday, May 16.

Halton Mayor Cllr Shaun Osborne opened the event and the Irish Guards provided music throughout the day.

Sian Thomas, regional fundraiser from the Stroke Association, said: “Step out for stroke celebrates the achievements of stroke survivors as they walk alongside their friends and family while helping to raise vital funds for the Stroke Association.

“We’re very grateful to everyone who came along to show their support.

“The sun was shining, people were full of smiles and a great day was had by all.”
