A BRAVE little girl battling a rare cancer is inspiring everyone she meets.

Two-year-old Krystal Bentley from Runcorn was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma above her lip when she was only 11 months old.

She has undergone surgery at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool and will be on chemotherapy until October.

Yet, despite painful radiotherapy and more than a year of treatment, she has never lost her smile.

Her mum, Rebecca Hartley, aged 25, from Palacefields has launched an appeal to take her to Disneyland once she completes her therapy.

She hopes to take Krystal and her brothers, Troy, aged six, Kaylib, aged five and Zachary, aged three on a special holiday.

Krystal's nan, Elaine Hartley is organising charity tennis matches and a family fun day at Widnes Tennis Academy on Sunday, May 31, from 1pm to 5pm.

There will be stalls, a bouncy castle and raffles. Admission is £2 per person, £5 family ticket.

The tennis centre beside SS Peter and Paul Catholic College in Highfield Road is also hosting a children’s tournament over the bank holiday weekend to support the appeal.

Elaine, from Palacefields, said: “It is such an aggressive cancer, there is a big chance of it coming back.

“But Krystal is a little fighter.

“Her treatment is going well. Her mum administers her chemotherapy every day and she goes into hospital once a week for a bigger dose.

“She has her blood checked every week and has regular MRI scans. We take every day as it comes.

“She is a brave little thing.”

Elaine wants to thank staff at Widnes Tennis Academy for their support and everyone for their generosity.

So far, wellwishers have donated £2,686.
