FOOTBALL referee Chris Foy gave an inspirational talk to students at Riverside College.

He spoke about overcoming adversity and disappointment and gave tips on how to succeed in any vocation.

He talked about dealing with pressure situations, reflecting on the heated Premiere League clash between Chelsea and QPR in 2011.

In a game which he says is the toughest of his career, seven yellow and two red cards were shown.

Speaking to students from construction, engineering, business and IT courses, Chris said his proudest career moment so far was refereeing the 2010 FA Cup final between Chelsea and Portsmouth.

The talk ended with a question and answer session, where students had the opportunity to gain inside knowledge about the role of a professional football referee.

Lyn Rhodes, assistant principal at Riverside College, said: “Chris’ talk has been a fantastic experience for our students.

“To hear such an incredible career story from an experienced, well known and respected professional has been very motivational.”
