A RUNCORN schoolgirl has been selected to compete for a place in a beauty pageant in Disneyland Paris.

Rebecca Rowlands, aged 16, from Castlefields is through to the regional heat of Face Of The Globe in London on August 29.

The top five in her age category will compete against girls from all over the world in Paris in October.

Grange pupil Rebecca said: “I’m very excited.

“I’ve competed in several pageants and it has boosted my confidence a lot.”

Rebecca performed in front of hundreds of people at Blackpool Pleasure Beach last year in the final of Miss Junior Teen Great Britain.

She dedicated it her 66-year-old granddad William, who has a heart condition and is blind in one eye.

Rebecca said: “My granddad has never been abroad before. I’d love to take him to Paris.”

She is now challenged to raise money for the Rainbow Child Foundation.

Entrants who collect the most funds gain more points towards their overall score.

Rebecca added: “It would mean the absolute world to me if I won this competition.

“When I get older, I want to help people by doing charity work in places like Africa.

She is organising a bingo at Castlefields Community Centre at 7.30pm on Saturday, June 27.
