A CARING schoolgirl has donated her pony tail to make wigs for children with cancer.

Karla Buckley, aged five, from Widnes has been growing her hair since she was a baby.

Her mum, Dawn, aged 32, of Millar Crescent, said: “When she watched a video of little girls getting wigs, she started crying.

“She wanted to cut her hair to make a little girl happy.”

Karla, a pupil at St Bede’s, had 34cm of her locks cut off on Friday at Xpressions salon in Queens Avenue, where staff pampered her for being so brave.

She has raised almost £500 for The Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real hair wigs for children who lose their hair through chemotherapy.

Dawn said:”Karla is very caring. She will help anyone and looks after all her friends at school.

“Her teachers say she is very mature for her age.

“She is a little star.”

Karla is a Widnes Vikings cheerleader and enjoys tap, ballet and modern dancing.

She recently appeared in Her Benny at The Brindley.
