CHARITIES are invited to apply for a chance of becoming Halton Housing Trust’s charity of the year.

To celebrate this trust’s 10th anniversary landmark year, the successful applicant will benefit from a £10,000 project.

The work will be completed in 10 days.

Trust volunteers have already completed makeovers and refurbishment at Widnes and Runcorn Cancer Support Centre, Halton Haven Hospice and Norton Priory Museum and Gardens.

Vikki Mack, who leads on the trust’s charitable work, said: “Since we started working with local charities in 2006, we’ve provided support totalling just under a quarter of a million pounds.

“To become our chosen charity for 2015/16 during our 10th anniversary is a fantastic opportunity and the successful organisation will benefit hugely from our fundraising efforts as well as the expertise and diverse range of skills of our colleagues.”

Any charity thinking of applying will need to demonstrate how their work benefits the Halton community and specifically the trust’s 14,000 customers. A shortlist will be drawn up from those expressing an interest.

Interested charities should contact Vikki Mack on 0151 510 5106 or email vikki.mack@haltonhousing.org and provide a short submission including why they should be selected.

This should also include a clear outline of any specific projects where the trust could support their work.

The key selection criteria is how their aims and objectives match those of the trust’s and how the two organisations can work together to benefit the wider communities within Halton.

A panel will decide the successful charity, which will be based on the viability of the project remit.

Deadline for submissions is Friday, May 1, 2015.
