A ROYAL visitor is coming to Runcorn.

The Duke of Gloucester will meet volunteers and civic dignitaries at St John Ambulance's new pop up shop in Runcorn Shopping Centre on Wednesday afternoon, April 1.

He is coming in his official title of the Grand Prior of charity worldwide.

Graham Ellis, training and community projects manager for St John Ambulance in the north west, said: “Not only will we be training many adults and children in vital first aid techniques.

“We will also be able to proudly demonstrate the work of our volunteers and trainers.

“First aid is such a simple skill to learn.

“We aim to show that even the young can pick up techniques which will enable them to help if confronted with an incident.”

The Mayor and Mayoress of Halton, Cllr Shaun Osborne and his wife, Della, and the chief executive of Halton Council, David Parr will be among the civic guests.

Pupils from Hallwood Park Primary School will be learning how to save lives during the royal visit.

Demonstrations will be held in the main square of the shopping centre from 12 noon.

Members of the public will be welcome to come along and learn some first aid techniques.
