A NEW veterinary practice has been created inside a Widnes pet store after a £250,000 makeover.

Halton’s deputy Mayor, Cllr Ellen Cargill and her consort and husband, Dave, opened Vets4Pets at Pets at Home on Bowers Retail Park on Friday, March 13.

The refurbishment has created six new jobs as a groom room has also been created.

Deputy store manager Emma Dixon said: “We’ve listened carefully to what our customers have been telling us and we’re confident the store’s improved layout and new services will be just what they want.

“Our mission is to ensure pets live a happy and healthy life.

“The addition of a grooming salon and vet practice means our customers will now find everything they need to care for their pets under one roof.”

The Vets4Pets practice has a full operating theatre, digital x-ray facilities and in house laboratory.

It also has a hospital ward providing a full range of treatments from health checks to emergency operations.

The new development brings the total number of people employed at the store to 20.
