A RUNCORN opticians has invested £20,000 installing state-of-the-art technology.

Specsavers, which has been at Runcorn Shopping Centre for 21 years, has also trained existing staff and recruited apprentices.

Charlotte Caldwell, aged 28, from Halton Village and Clare Rawlings, aged 32, from the old town in Runcorn have qualified as dispensing opticians after three years’ training.

Sahir Jamil, aged 25, has qualified as an optometrist after studying for five years.

New iPad technology will take customer measurements when dispensing glasses as well as offering a ‘magic mirror’ camera enabling customers to try on multiple frame styles.

Store director Chris Graham said: ‘We are 100 percent committed to developing our staff, giving young people vocational opportunities through apprenticeships and ensuring our customers have access to the latest equipment and resources.”

Last year Specsavers Runcorn raised £7,500 for charities and will be supporting Red Nose Day 2015 by selling official Red Nose Day glasses for Comic Relief.
