TWO Halton music teachers are inspiring children to discover hidden talents.

Tenor hornplayer Lucy Pankhurst, aged 33, and her partner, tuba player Paul McGhee, aged 34, have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of children.

They visit schools across the borough as part of Halton and Warrington District Music Service and teach a range of instruments to individual pupils and groups.

They prepare the young musicians to perform at a showcase concert.

Lucy, from Widnes town centre, said: “The children get so much out of these concerts.

“It gives them a huge event to work towards and it’s very exciting to play on such a big stage.

“The audience is always packed out too which is a wonderful experience for your first live performance.

“As a tutor, it’s fantastic to see the culmination of all the hard work the students and staff have put in all year.”
