A young cupid is helping love to blossom.

Teenagers were invited to design a poster to reflect a safe relationship message.

Aiden Shaw, aged 15, a pupil at Chestnut Lodge School in Widnes came up with the best idea.

Spelling out the world 'Valentine', he listed 10 key points to nurture a safe, lasting relationship.

His messages included 'trust each other', 'loyalty is key;' and 'abuse is wrong'.

He won an iPad in the competition run by Halton Council’s youth provision.

Aiden’s poster will be turned into a Valentine’s Day card and distributed to young people across Widnes and Runcorn.

He said he was delighted to win.

Halton Cllr Ged Philbin, board member for children, young people and families, said: "This is a great design and Aiden obviously put a lot of time and effort into it.

“I am sure it will be effective in getting the message across."

The competition was organised by Young Addaction on behalf of Halton’s Children’s Trust and Halton Council as part of an on-going commitment to improve opportunities for all children and young people living in the borough.
