RUNCORN schoolchildren are learning about environmental crime in a new project.
Pupils from Murdishaw West Primary School were challenged to create posters to highlight the damage caused by litter and fly tipping.
The winning design by 10-year-old Libby Caddrick has been made into a street sign and is now on display around Runcorn East railway station.
She received a prize worth £350 for her family to travel with Arriva Trains Wales, a certificate from Halton Council and a voucher from North Cheshire Railway Users Group.
Halton Cllr Ron Hignett, board member for the environment, warned residents that action will be taken if fly tippers are caught.
He said: "Officers undertake patrols in the area and will prosecute people committing environmental crime."
The project was funded by Runcorn chemical manufacturer INEOS ChlorVinyls through the Landfill Communities Fund.
