A SHOWCASE of art work created by Halton’s young people is on display in an exhibition at The Brindley until February 21.

Students aged 11 to 19 from schools across Runcorn and Widnes have been working with artists Jeni McConnell, Sarah Nicholson, Cathy Rounthwaite and Maria Tarn.

Inspired Responses 10 marks the culmination of months of workshops and features work by young people alongside pieces created by the artists.

Louise Hesketh, Halton Council’s arts development officer, said: “This year’s work is diverse and exciting with artists and students experimenting with sculpture, textiles, printmaking, recycling and installation as new ways of working.

“The art has been created with genuine energy and enthusiasm and a lot of work beyond the usual curriculum.

“There is a high level of talent and extraordinary art works from Halton’s young people.”

Students from Cavendish High Academy, CRMZ, Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy, St Chad’s and Wade Deacon took part in the project.
