WIDNES Vikings are inviting schoolchildren, residents and businesses to make history in Halton.

The team hopes to set a new Guinness World record by holding the biggest ever fitness session.

All you have to do is turn up at 11am on Thursday, February 5 at their home ground, the Select Stadium.

Some 2,000 volunteers have already signed up.

Everyone will be challenged to take part in a 10 minute light fitness session suitable for all ages and abilities.

Well known figures will be supporting the exciting record attempt.

Widnes Vikings have teamed up with Halton Council and NHS Halton Clinical Commissioning Group to launch the big Viking health kick-off.

Super League general manager Blake Solly said: “It is great to be able to support Widnes Vikings and their partners as they attempt to enter the Guinness Book of Records.

“This Super League ushers in a new era for the sport.

“There would be no greater way to start that new era than by breaking a world record and creating a fantastic atmosphere at the opening match of the season.”

The current world record for the most people exercising to a fitness video is 2,958 at Bejing in China on September 28, 2013.

The Vikings are determined to beat that figure But they need your help.

Everyone who takes part in the record attempt will be given a thank you gift.

Every adult and child who participates will receive a free ticket to the First Utility Super League Opener, at 8pm on February 5 when Widnes Vikings take on Wigan Warriors.

Anyone wishing to take part must sign up online before 12pm on Wednesday, February 4.
